Obituary

Mitchell Lee Starkey, born January 8, 1962, passed away on September 8, 2026.

Mitchell will be remembered as a hardworking man whose life was shaped by simple pleasures, strong ties, and a love for the outdoors. He graduated from Luther High School and went on to work in construction, a field that reflected his willingness to work hard and stay busy. He loved fishing, being outside, and going for walks. He was also known as a jokester, someone who could bring lightness and laughter to those around him. Along with his love of work and the outdoors, he was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan.

Family was an important part of Mitchell’s life. He is survived by his sons, Johnny Starkey of McLoud, Oklahoma, Waylon Starkey of McLoud, Oklahoma, Bo Womack and his wife Tara of Luther, Oklahoma, and Stacy Womack of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He also leaves behind his brother Billy Starkey and Billy’s wife, Lisa, of Luther, Oklahoma; his sisters, Thelma Smith and Patsy Starkey, both of Luther, Oklahoma; and his five grandchildren, Rhiannon, Wilbur, Paisley, Carlos, and Kylie. He will be deeply missed by each of them, and by all who shared in the laughter, stories, and everyday moments that made his life so meaningful.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Starkey; his mother, Evelyn Starkey; his brothers, Johnny Starkey, Jack Starkey, Jimmy Starkey, and Lloyd Starkey; and his wife, Kathy Starkey.

Mitchell’s memory will live on in the lives of his family, in the stories they continue to tell, and in the quiet places outdoors that he loved so much. He will be remembered with affection for his humor, his hardworking spirit, and the warmth he brought to those who knew him.
